Drivers traveling Interstate 70 near Wentzville should prepare for brief overnight traffic stops Monday, September 14, and Tuesday, September 15.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, all lanes of I-70 between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z—approximately mile markers 208 through 209.8—will close for periods of about 15 minutes.
The intermittent closures are scheduled between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, weather permitting.
Crews Installing Bridge Girders
The closures are necessary while crews install bridge girders for a temporary railroad bridge over the interstate.
Large cranes will lift and position the girders above I-70. Traffic must be stopped temporarily while this work takes place.
The interstate will reopen between each operation, but drivers could encounter multiple short closures throughout the night.
Allow Additional Travel Time
Drivers traveling through the area should:
- Allow extra time
- Reduce speed when approaching the work zone
- Watch for stopped traffic
- Follow directions from construction crews and law enforcement
- Consider an alternate route when practical
Construction schedules are weather-dependent and may change.
The work is part of the Improve I-70: Warrenton to Wentzville project, which includes widening and realigning I-70 and replacing the railroad bridge between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z.
